Bureau Technical Services is delighted to be working with Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. The project, owned by RWE, will comprise 100 turbines, an offshore converter station and hundreds of kilometres of both inter-array and export cables as well as onshore electrical infrastructure.
Under a framework agreement, Bureau will provide services to support the project with Quality and Inspection services activities.
Our initial involvement will be the export cables package at Prysmian’s Pikkala factory in Finland, where we will be overseeing the manufacture and loadout of the 320kV HVDC offshore export cable.
Director of Operations Tom Greaves. The Sofia project marks another milestone in Bureau’s expanding Offshore Wind offering, becoming our fifteenth project involvement since 2014.
Due to our successful ongoing commitment to the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm, we are pleased to be awarded this framework and be part of another RWE project.
Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 200km off the North-East coast and when completed is expected to generate enough energy to power 1.2 million homes annually.
The 1.4-gigawatt offshore wind project will see an investment of around £3bn with onshore works now underway and a planned completion due by the end of 2026.
