Facilities Management Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements (UT) Pipework Inspection

Bureau Technical Services recently supported our client and a major multinational Facilities Management and Construction company with NDT pipework inspection on their portfolio of public buildings across the United Kingdom. Throughout several schools and police stations, the pipework was inspected by our competent and qualified operatives. We acted as a one-stop service providing personnel resourcing, equipment along with calibration, and full reporting.

The Assignment
As part of the end client’s ongoing asset management programme, we supported their periodic assessment of corrosion within heating pipework systems. Working to the building drawings and in partnership with site engineers, our personnel produced comprehensive reports of the current status of pipework. The final reports were transmitted to the end-client’s Facilities Management engineering team to allow them to project for any upcoming remedial works that may be necessary.

Equipment
We provided all the required equipment for these inspections, along with verified calibration status and transport, as part of our all-inclusive service. Bureau Technical Services provide full traceability for all equipment provided during inspections.

Technical Abilities and Problem Solving
As with inspection on any in-service equipment, there were specific challenges to overcome. Tight radius bends, access issues, in-situ lagging removal and absence of drawings all presented difficulties, however, these were addressed to help ensure the required measurements were taken for all the pipes.
