NDT testing campaigns across all disciplines globally

From March 2020 until early 2021, we were engaged by a large international client to undertake a number of NDT campaigns on critical structural items in South Korea, Indonesia, and China. Destined for major wind farms in the UK, Europe, and Asia.

As part of this Bureau provided all personnel, managed all processes, technician verification, technical review, and reporting of the campaign, covering the below techniques.

• Ultrasonic Testing
• Magnetic Particle Testing
• Visual Weld Inspection

Throughout the campaign, testing was undertaken to a proprietary specification, which involved Bureau authoring a bespoke reporting template and system in-line with client requirements. Technicians required specific experience on equivalent items, which was fulfilled by Bureau’s highly qualified personnel. All final reports and management of repairs were reviewed by our in-house technical team.

Planning and Preparation

Service included:

• Verification of all NDT personnel
• Authoring a complete portfolio of bespoke reporting formats
• Full calibration checking of equipment
• Full review of applicable codes and standards
• Full scheduling and coordination with the vendor
• Risk assessing the activities, and approving a method statement
• Bureau Project Manager attendance to site to confirm the scope prior to work starting.

NDT Daily Activities

At the end of each working day, a summary of the activities was provided, reports check and verified by Bureau’s internal quality team, and tested tags reported back via a dedicated document management system.

Post campaign

At the end of the campaign, a complete and comprehensive document pack was issued to the client which included all reports, calibration details and certificates. Bureau also offers a post-inspection follow-up service with further clarifications as required.
