Two people have been killed at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, with two more injured.

According to local media reports, the first started at 4 in the afternoon local time at one of the docks used to construct liquefied petroleum gas carried.

The dock workers were caught up in the blaze which was extinguished an hour and a half later.

HHI was building an 84,000-ton carrier that was due to be finished next month.

The fire department sent about 18 trucks and 60 firefighters to extinguish the flames, which emitted large black smoke clouds in the sky.

People living nearby were forced to evacuate.

One of the workers killed was found dead at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital where he died from serious burns.

All four workers were employees of the company’s subcontractors.

The official cause of the fire is yet to be released, but they suspect it started when workers were welding heat insulation materials or nearby parts
