Japanese and Malaysian consortium to work on three trains at Sarawak plant until 2019

Japan’s JGC and Synerlitz of Malaysia have jointly won a rejuvenation contract at the Petronas-led Bintulu liquefied natural gas plant in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The pair will work on the fourth, fifth and sixth LNG trains under the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning deal, the value of which was not disclosed.

The lump-sum turnkey contract will be completed by January 2019, JGC said on Wednesday.

State player Petronas has a 60% stake in Bintulu, with Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell and Japan’s Mitsubishi each on 15% and the Sarawak state government with the balance of 10%.
