Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm

BTS was awarded this framework in 2019 and was part of the project until late 2022

We were engaged in providing QA/QC surveillance services covering both the onshore and offshore packages at multiple sub-suppliers and fabrication manufacturers on a residential and ad-hoc / spot inspection basis across Europe (UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands), liaising with all relevant parties onshore and offshore on the vessel(s) (MWS representative, Contractor, Certifier representatives to include the below packages:

Onshore involvement consisted of:

  • WTG Foundations, Transition Pieces, Onshore Substation, Offshore Substation Platform, Inter Array and Export Cable, Blade Manufacturing and WTG Pre-Assembly supported by Welding, Coating, Mechanical and Electrical surveillance.

Offshore involvement consisted of:

  • Offshore Substation Platform and foundations coating remedial works, Cable Jointing and Termination, WTG Electrical Equipment Installation supported by Mechanical and Electrical Technicians and Welding and Coating inspectors.

WTG Foundations – Smulders, Hoboken / SIF / Smulders, Maasvlakte

  • Coating Surveillance for the fabrication of the foundations according to NORSOK M501 records and Galvanising to standards such as EN 1461 and Thermal Spraying Aluminium and Zinc TSA/TSZ, Coating standard to EN 12944 up to C5M high/CX, Surface prep standards ISO 8501 (P2/P3), Salt Testing, Surface cleanliness and Prep, Dust Testing, Wet Film thickness testing, Dry film Testing, Surface Defects, Reviewing coating records
  • Electrical Surveillance, snagging and inspection of the Foundation LV works and Dropper Cables. Monitoring against contractual specifications as further detailed in the ITPs for the equipment installation and LV/HV works
  • Welding Surveillance for the fabrication and fit out of WTG foundations and assisting the Fabrication of the Foundations and their associated components, covering Welding / NDT inspection, Dimensional control, Review of records and as-builts, Material control including weld consumables working to EN and DNV codes.

WTG and Turbine Pre-Assembly Onshore – Seaton, UK

  • Surveillance, Good inwards, Snagging and Inspection of the pre-assembly WTG works in accordance with the contract and employers’ requirements and accepted contractors ITP’s to include

Offshore Topside Fabrication – Smulders Balen  / Smulders Tessenderlo / Smulders Hoboken

  • Welding and Coating Surveillance for the fabrication of 2 offshore topside modules, TP and Cage.

WTG – MVOW Nacelle Factory, Denmark

  • Auditing and Surveillance covering the manufacturing of the turbine hub-nacelle assembly.

Offshore package scope:

Client Representative for RWE overseeing/witnessing all offshore activities relevant vessels (CTV / SOV) consisting of multiple onshore and offshore contractors to include: Smulders, SMC, DEM.

BTS’s scope included loadouts, offshore turbine installation activities for all the Offshore packages. Substation Platform coating remedial works, Mechanical and Electrical Package (Cable Jointing and Termination, Electrical Equipment Installation and commissioning), Heavy lifting operations of 90 turbines.

OSP / Turbines – Mechanical and Electrical Package – Offshore

  • Client Representative Surveillance and inspection of the OSP M&E works and equipment Installation and Testing to include: LV, 66Kv and up to 220Kv. Transformer, switchgear, Emergency Diesel Gen Set, LV Cabling, HVAC, EAT, Protection and Control Panels

WTG Foundations – Offshore

  • Client Representative Surveillance and inspection to include surface pre and cleanliness standards, Salts tests, dust tests, coating defects, environmental conditions, coating systems, and repair systems in accordance with accepted ITPs and work instruction working to the relevant DNV, NORSOK, EN; ISO and EN standards in relation to offshore works
